About the event
Learn the fandance basics in this 8-week course, with included recital performance! First popularized as a major burlesque prop in the 1930s from dancer Sally Rand, ostrich feather fan work has always been a favorite tool for the tease. Upon completion of this workshop, students will have a working knowledge and skill of ostrich feather fan use, to then include into the dancers stable of acts. Over the eight-week course, students will develop and refine skill in working with these big beautiful beasts, building strength & agility, movement repertoire, construction & care knowledge, and refinement technique.
Experienced burlesque dancers only, no prior flow / variety experience required, open to all humans 18+. Dancers need their own ostrich feather fans, or may rent a pair of ours for class use. Dancers should wear comfortable, form fitting exercise type clothes and wear a pair of short sturdy heels or similar for comfort. Additional costuming requirements for both class rehearsal and recital are necessary.Â
Wednesdays starting March 25th (no class April 8th).
